Play ground

The Taiji diagram from Taoism is a fantastic illustration. One half of it is white, and the other black. In the white half lies a black dot, and in the black half lies a white dot. In the diagram lies the one and only Truth which all spiritual practitioners aspire to, that is, to be one with the Way. This Taiji diagram also holds the deep secret for all sinned sentient beings, on how to return to their original form in the Universe. All sentient beings, including myself, have been suffering endlessly in the six realms of existence through endless reincarnations. They are being put through the sufferings of birth, old age, sickness, death, unfulfilled wishes and desires, separation from loved ones, association with those we dislike, the flourishing of the Five Skandhas, etc. We never really enjoy a life of peace and blessings because we are overly stubborn about mistaking the illusory nature of things as the reality.

The Human Life is a Dream, how do we break out from it?

Master Dai Hu offers you the truth: the moment we are born as a human, a seemingly real journey of fantasies begins. Let me share a joke with you, so as to guide everyone onto the Path of Right Thought, and comprehend the hidden Zen in the joke. A lady looked at her husband lovingly and said, “Thank you for giving me everything. The lovely house, the luxurious limousine, the diamonds and jewellery…, I cannot believe these are all real!” Her husband looked at her with a wooden face. At this moment, the alarm clock rang. Aah… it was only a dream. Ha ha ha! Yes, your life is like a big dream. Even as you sleep, you are entering another dream state, albeit a smaller one.

You must pull the plug on this big illusion of life, to break free from the endless dream-like cycles of reincarnations. The only way is to start spiritual cultivation as early as possible, with steely determination and diligence, and set your intent to attain spiritual accomplishments of no elements of consciousness; no ignorance and also no ending of ignorance. In this way, form shall not arise, to distract you from the greatest affair of your life, or escape will be in vain. The focus in learning the Dharma and spiritual cultivation is on the Three-fold Training of Sila (Discipline), Samadhi (Meditation) and Panna (Wisdom). Discipline restrains transgression of your body, speech and mind, giving rise to concerted focus in meditation. Wisdom follows when the state of meditation is accomplished. The moment wisdom emerges, your judgement shall transcend all forms and attachments caused by the mind, that commits sins due to ignorance.

Treating spiritual cultivators well is akin to treating yourself well

As a genuine student of the Dharma should know in detail, the Great Lord Buddha taught us to refrain from slandering spiritual cultivators and the Sangha. Therefore, we, as students of the Dharma and spiritual cultivators, should not jump to conclusion if we have insufficient understanding of any particular monk or spiritual practitioner. We can get nearer to him, read his books, listen intently to his Dharma discourses, before we make any unbiased judgement. This is the trait of a real learned person! Please do not ever follow the herd and base your judgement on hearsay. Do you know that slandering is a criminal offence as well? We are all born from the same source, so please treat yourself with benevolence.
